A Modern Commitment to Sustainability
Crowne Plaza Hobart leads with innovation and environmental stewardship, implementing initiatives that reduce its footprint while enhancing the guest experience:
• 💡 Energy-efficient LED lighting and C-Bus smart controls
• 🪵 Bamboo room keys replacing plastic cards
• ☀️ 219 rooftop solar panels, producing over 350,000 kWh of renewable energy and saving 66.5 tons of CO₂ within the first year of installation
• 🧴 Bulk Antipodes amenities in glass bottles, eliminating over 344,000 plastic containers
• 🌱 “A Greener Stay” program rewarding guests with IHG® points for opting out of daily housekeeping
• 📱 Fully digital in-room experience replacing paper and plastic collateral
Beyond environmental impact, the hotel proudly supports local partnerships. Wherever possible, food and products are locally sourced, supporting Tasmania’s producers and artisans.
Crowne Plaza Hobart partners with Loui’s Van through the St Vincent de Paul Society, assisting vulnerable members of the community, and was the first Hobart business to launch SEED’s Container Collection Service. Proceeds from this initiative directly fund critical healthcare research via the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation.
Certified as an IHG “Meetings for Good” property, the hotel integrates sustainability into meetings and events through eco-conscious packages, waste reduction, and resource-efficient setups.
